January 2022 Transfer Thread

If Leeds end up going down, do we think they'd part with Gelhardt for anything like a reasonable fee?

Timmy II both boots in on Fabio going out if we get someone to warm the bench instead. Needs to be abroad, he'd be butchered in the Championship.

He needs to get used to UK football imo though. No point acclimatising him to something completely different. You'd want at least a comparable league in terms of physicality or pace

He's not up to it. The already awful value will just get worse. The PL isn't as physical as the Championship, he'd just get drilled. Try and make him look competent and take the bath ASAP, 6 months at Luton isn't going to do that

I think Lg1 is where we should send him for 6 months. Let him score goals and learn his craft here in England.

I can't see a Championship club that would use him nearly enough.

I have a funny feeling he'll end up in Switzerland though.

Spending a year in the Championship would do him the world of good.

Look at some of the shite up front in that division. As long as he adapts to the physicality, which I think he would (based on his game against West Brom) then he'd score plenty of goals.

The only thing he needs to learn is the rolling around and claiming injury constantly. He'd soon adapt and cut that out with some experience just like Jota did.

35m and we are looking to loan him to the championship at best. Sorry it’s depressing. Meanwhile Liverpool got Jota. Crying in my gin now

No one is going to be playing him in the championship, it’s not a charity.
Plenty of clubs in that league would probably love someone like him on loan.

Maybe a top League One team who are likely to get promoted and want to retain him in the Championship? Sunderland or Rotherham perhaps, but do they need him? He certainly will improve more quickly playing senior football regularly, whatever the level, within reason.

He clearly needs to be somewhere, but he needs games in senior football so has to be a place that he will play regularly.

I can understand the comments re the Championship, but unless we test him then we'll never know.

If he can't hack it then we will and we offload for whatever we can get back into a European league.

In the championship at best, at very best, he’s getting 10 mins at the end. He’d be lucky, and probably out of his depth, to get time in League 1.

This is why teenagers don't usually go for such exorbitant sums, I guess. Just doesn't tally up with developmental needs, unless you genuinely are a generational talent.

Reckon we'll get some ok-ish Mendes money back at some date

He looked decent at times last season, he's certainly got some football in him.

Are a promotion Championship team going to gamble on him as their first choice off the bat? Doubtful. Will they stick with him if he scored a few goals? Obviously.

Sometimes players just need a break to get in the team and they take the chance with both hands to make themselves undroppable. No way Blues signed Shrewsbury flop Sarkic to be their first choice but Etheridge got injured and look at him now. Same could easily happen for Silva, I don't think he ever looked perturbed or hesitant with the physical stuff last year, he just couldn't cope with it. Haven't had opportunity yet this season to know if that's changed but I'd certainly back to him score goals in the Championship if he overcame that hurdle.

He really wouldn’t.

if you could get him a loan in the championship for someone who play decent football he’d be pretty useful I think. As mark said, he looked decent st times last season. His goals and assists per 90 were absolutely fine really.

Question. How many 35m players are there playing championship football?

I am struggling here
