January 2021 Transfer Window

More likely he has totally dropped off a cliff.
He looked a bit hard work / mardy from the Spurs All or Nothing doc too.

RE: our wage structure, what are people's thoughts on how we can develop that and integrate big(gish) stars into the team over the next few years? Should we even bother going down that route? Is it too big an ask for a club our size?

We already have done in as much as Rui and Moutinho smashed where we were at then on £100k a week. Can't remember who it was which I appreciate isn't particularly informative, but a former pro was asked about salaries and dressing rooms, his response was it's never a problem unless they aren't doing the business.

Zero net spend though wasn't it? I just hope that MGW and Cutrone succeed. If not there will be much wailing in the twittersphere come the last few days of the window.
Zero net spend in the last summer , but we had spent in previous summers. The fact that Nuno likes a small squad to work with does leave us hamstrung if we get two or three injuries. Without reopening the recruitment in the summer debate we did gamble a bit by not getting a Raul back up and many on here acknowledge that. Given that Cutrone and Gibbs White are ours then it makes sense in the short term this month . Doesn’t stop me feeling a little flat about it though. Especially as we have fewer fixtures this year. Looking forward to a good banter on the match day thread !

I quite like MGW, and think he could be pretty effective if we continue with the 4-2-3-1 system. He's able to get into the box too. I was actually a little disappointed we loaned him out tbh, though understand why, and actually if he'd played all season and not had his injury think we'd really have benefited now.

Is no-one else at least mildly surprised Raul is doing "light fitness work" already? For me, that's the most positive snippet here! (from a perspective of his recovery/overall health more than anything else)
Really depends on the severity.

pretty sure chivu (maybe incorrect spelling) for Milan fractured his skull in January, had an op and was back playing in March and won champions league.

but then mason retired because of his 🤷‍♂️

Aye, I really like him. Can play a bit, physically good, plenty to work with and a great age. I don't think we'll get top 6 if we've got Boly and Saiss playing 60 games between them at the back tbh, and I think he'd be worth a look certainly

Not sure Chelsea would loan to a ‘rival’?

Would be very happy with him.

This is from a Premier League Rising/Falling article over here in Oz. Real link almost certainly tosh but thought I'd share anyway because I've not seen it anywhere else.

I don't expect us to spend anything this window, even on loan signings unless we spot an absolute bargain like Harry Kane for £10m

The reason we have taken Cutrone back is economical.
The world and its dog knows we are desperate for a centre forward, you can bet your Mortgage every time Nuno enquired about a Centre forward the price went up by at least £5M. By recalling Cutrone and making the statements they have made we are no longer deemed desperate.
I expect to see a centre forward in but it will be more realistically priced.

I do find it amusing that people think that Nuno rings up a club and says "Is x available as we'd like to buy him?"
yeah, we all know he rings up Jorge first
