10 years!

Don't make me dredge up that Blackburn verdict thread...

I can't have the Solbakken discussion again. It's just not in me.

I think everyone is broadly speaking on the same page regarding Solbakken.

If the club wanted to dramatically change direction from everything we'd had since 2006 then we needed to go all in and we didn't. By the same token he showed himself to be far too one-dimensional. The existing players didn't cover themselves in glory. He needed to go as it simply wasn't going to work, but we went down the road of appointing someone who wasn't even close to suitable and made it all worse.

I'm not sure there's any great "what if" with him, I think it's fanciful to suggest that even if we'd given him everything he wanted that he'd have been particularly successful.

Think this fair comment, I was delighted with his appointment and the noises coming out of the club at the time.
Tbf we didn't start at all badly with him but following the loss to MMs Ipswich? It went badly downhill. Personally I would have stuck with him till the end of the season and think we'd have had a chance of staying up, couldn't believe we got rid to appoint that charlatan. Doubt that he could've turned us into a regular Premier league team though.

Palace at home was the turning point. Think we went 1-0 up and may even have been top of the league in-play. Peszko got nobbled by Jonny Williams (scandalous challenge), we lost 2-1 and we never recovered from that.

Losing to Mick's Ipswich was right at the end of his reign, may even have been his final home game.

We were top in play. I was tuning in from St Lucia on honeymoon which went down well.

The three that stick out to me are Ipswich, Posh, and then Luton in the cup (think he was sacked the next day).

Was sacked that evening and it was apparent very quickly that Saunders was a done deal. As it turned out we'd given him the job in the previous week, the Luton result was immaterial (but a measure of how broken things were and why Solbakken couldn't stay).

Yep fair enough, didn't get to many games that season, Ipswich sticks in my mind cos my lad was over from Germany for Xmas and he used one of his precious spare days to go with us......he wasn't very impressed!

He was sacked in the next hour and they'd offered Saunders the job before the match

Not quite an ex-Wolf, very nearly one; Modeste M'Bami has passed away aged 40.

Adam Le Fondre with a nightmare in the A League.... Won a soft penalty in the 97th minute, saved, win a second penalty which is missed in the 99th minute, they lose the game 1-0.

Rumours his manager is going apeshit at the Wellington Pheonix gaffer about a lack of class*

If you know, you know.

*Not strictly true.
