Wouldn't surprise me if it's been around longer. I had all the classic symptoms back in mid November, knocked me about a fair bit for a week.

Will open up the charity shop on Friday for a couple of hours even if just to distribute NHS hearing aid batteries which we are the only source locally (hospitals in this part of the world are a fair distance apart).

On my own but have a 'security blanket' as two of the others involved who really have to self isolate will ring me at home half an hour after I am due to have left to make sure that I am home - if I am not then someone will call the emergency services to check that I haven't fallen down the stairs.

Came back from a trip to San Antonio was sick as a dog and out of work for 3 days and then my daughter got sick for a week too...

Assume a more even distribution of age range would suggest an even higher asymptomatic rate given how harsh this virus is on the elderly.

But nobody I know here in SA has the virus or even thinks they may have it. Not saying it isn't here - it obviously is - but I would be extremely surprised if you caught it here and it did not affect any of the locals (unless Tex-mex food is the antidote).

Whole family here came down with something "flu-like" that put us all in bed for a good week or so, all we ever learned was that it wasn't actually the flu...

It's a cheeky coincidence, if nothing else. Absolutely not going to catch me actually trying to argue that that's what we had.

Strange thing is, we took my daughter to the Dr 3 times. Flu, strep tests all came back negative. Took her to see a specialist and that came back negative too. I'm not saying either of us had it of course but she was certainly more ill than I was...
