Chelsea 0-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

How many teams have come away from Stamford Bridge with a clean sheet, this season?

Going back to first principles and getting back our defensive shape was very important. I absolutely wouldn't want us to regularly play like that, but I'll take that on the day.

Ach, I'll have the point all day. But deliberately playing for a 0-0 and having 20% possession isn't what we're about, and nor should it be.
I get the latter. We don't want to be like this. It's forced Nuno's hand with the team gifting goals recently.

4 months of Nuno ball and then a big summer ahead.

Going to be a lot of pressure on summer recruitment and then our performances in the first half of next season. Hopefully he shows he can manage a progressive footballing team.

That will do I guess.

Not pretty to watch at all but we defended better than they attacked and eventually created a chance or two. We deserved a point.

We just need to build on it now. We’re not going to be amazing to watch, but with a proper striker on board I am hopeful we will put in some better performances.

Promising appearance by Jose. We looked a bit better once he was on and his clearance right at the end stopped a certain goal.

Defensively back to what we know we're capable of, but some v poor composure when trying to turn defence into attack. Hopefully that will come as confidence begins to build, but we gave away too easily what very little ball we had.

As soon as Jose came on, things began to stick a bit more. Really looking forward to getting him integrated quickly.

If we weren't going to play a striker today (something we won't see again, thank goodness) it's pretty pointless playing Adama as his whole game is about crossing. Whipping them in for the big lad Podence ain't gonna work.

In the circumstances, I'm happy with the result and hopeful we can build from here. Boly, Rui and Coady all looked back to their best - it started to feel like it used to in the sense that we were comfortable defending, irrespective of the amount of pressure.

a Matt Targett injury vs Adama?
Not really as no Chelsea players ever threatened.

They were arguably worse than us as we invited them to set the agenda and they did nothing.

Good to see your boy Abraham have a devastating cameo by the way.

Ait-Nouri came off with an injury, by the way
Semedo was pretty solid in his place. Couldn't get forward as much as he does on the right though.

Hoever I thought looked poor. Kept clearing the ball to no-one or a Chelsea player. Didn't look comfortable at all.

Yeah, there was basically the moment in the first five minutes where he went round him and got that cross in that no one connected with. Apart from that, there was only really one other occasion where CHO got past him.

He looked lost a couple of times but i don't think he struggled like some have said.

I can't believe people are trying to defend that tripe and celebrating a point. An absolutely cowardly way to approach a football game. I could understand if it was semi-final and we were against the odds, or we needed a point to stay up, but it's a point that may make a difference between 12th and 13th, it's genuinely not worth it. It was horrible to watch, and would've been horrible to play in.

We can't even take confidence from it, because unless we're going to carry on playing a flat back seven, it's irrelevant to our defensive structure and stability for when we decide to try and ask our talented footballers to play actual football.

Didnt you see hudson-odoi getting the better of him 6-7 times and get the ball in the area...yeah i was also pleased abraham was quiet

For a (just turned) 19 year old he did alright I'd say, did his job fairly effectively. Switched off a couple of times but fortunately didn't come to much when he did. Hard for him to do much with the ball either when we set up how we did

Maybe my nervous system is over compensating for the game I've just watched, but I'm very excited to (hopefully) see WJ start for us at the weekend after a couple of training sessions
