Hi, Stoke fan here in peace, apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place and this is very self-indulgent so please forgive me!

I've finally decided to commit to writing the novel that I've been thinking about for years - an alternate history where the 1939-40 season goes ahead, from Stoke's perspective.

In the pre-season we lost 4-2 to you boys, with Dickie Dorsett scoring a hat trick - I'd like this to feature within the novel & was wondering if anyone could point me towards any books that focus on the history of Wolves in this season / period.

I'm particularly interested in:
- Excellent biographies / autobiographies of Dorsett, Cullis, Wright or Wescott - especially if they deal with players from a human perspective
- Detailed histories of Wolves in the period
- Anything that talks about Midlands football in the interwar period (bonus points for that from a social perspective)

I'm trying to get my research focused before I order a tonne of books online - so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Matthewsman
