I did like this though: Rare to see a mention of 'Union barons' in the wild nowadays. Like being back in the 1970s.

Did they win those contracts because of the donations, or because they were the best bidders? Should companies that donate to political parties be banned from bidding on government contracts to avoid the perception of cronyism?

    Yackity Yack, Let's Talk Zack

We shouldnt fight the right, as that would help them? What are you suggesting we do then? Join them?

Agree with all that - and agree with your last statement 1000000%. Can the greens ever win actual power? Probably not. But they can certainly be a powerful influence, and if the polls stay the way they are they could be kingmakers in a future hung parliament. Maybe a Lab-Green coalition. I...

Hes doing very well - and not afraid to ruffle feathers on his own side, which is refreshing. A left that can coalesce around him would be very useful indeed.

Is Vitor Pereira A Good Manager Or Should He Go?

You can only scrimp on quality and routinely sell your best players for so long before it bites you. We've been in steady decline for three years now. Hard to see how this isnt the year where we finally succumb, regardless of who the manager is. So on that note, might as well keep VP and save...

Is Vitor Pereira A Good Manager Or Should He Go?

The issue is that , right now, anyone interviewing to replace VP can go two ways. 1. Give me loads of money in January and I can keep you up 2. You're probably going to go down, but we can rebuild cheaply in the championship. Jeff will try for option 1 with the budget of option 2.

Be truthful and achieve nothing, or suck up and achieve something? Option 2 every day.

    The R.I.P. Thread

Systems with capital punishment tend to actually cost more, because you need a cast iron appeal system, checks and balances etc. And prison food costs a lot less than lawyers.

    The R.I.P. Thread

Nobodys going to mourn for him, and the world is a better place without him, but its not justice. Justice is when you're arrested, put on trial, found guilty and then sentenced according to the laws passed by Parliament. Not when some random decides to stab you in the shower. And lets face it...

    Climate Change Debate

Apparently you can't replace a 50GW grid with renewables. China has just passed 1TW, and is installing 100 panels per second. Still, it'll never scale.....it's a shame HGW bowed out...

I think address is something thats being considered as part of the consultation period.

Yeah. Digital ID is a good idea for many reasons, but shoehorning it into the immigration issue seems like a mistake.

The current proposal is that the ID will provide your name,DOB, immigration status/nationality and a photo. Quite how that becomes an Orwellian nightmare I dont know.

Do the dozens of other countries with national ID schemes have all those issues you cite?
