Oh yeah totally, that was meant more as a follow-up to the comment about the erratic way we seemed to approach that summer. Lop had targets he wanted, then he had those revised targets, and then he left.
It's dot connections from me obviously but it's still something that I have a few niggling...
Similar to Scott last season we also had the Retegui deal ready didn't we? Until some issue involving our financing or structure of the deal, back fired that as despite both being prolific he looks decent and already moved on for more money higher up.
Well if the choices for me were Sa, Johnstone, or Ramsdale for the fee Southampton paid, then I would have stayed Sa
If you had told me Sa couldn't be kept for whatever reason then I would have taken Ramsdale for that price despite my earlier reluctance; as he has the best ceiling out of these...
This is my issue with the Johnstone signing. Sa wasn't fantastic but then neither is Johnstone. I personally still feel it's a downgrade but marginal. If it's an upgrade, it's still marginal. And to the extent a keeper is still something that needs to be an area targeted for scouting and...
Excellent is too far. It's a good save and more importantly has a really strong push out which is more important than the save, as I basically expect every Prem keeper to stop that. There isn't a tremendous amount of power on it.
The Wood save is much better. Especially as it's not a clean...
Fan of your write up Slink. But did want to share this as seen a few people mentioning Johnstone and his distribution as an improvement over Sa. The raw stats don't measure up with an improvement. I get looking calmer and the perception of that may play a part. That it was an mostly okay debut...
Had completely forgotten he had played for Ireland (Carsley). Will have told this before but I once went for an interview at the FA and tons of the staff and people I was introduced to weren't English, so it's always struck me as odd when being English (which I get Carsley technically is) is...
I feel like Gibbs-White deserves to be there personally. He has been Forest's best player pretty much since he joined them and still seems to be improving. He has done more to earn the place he has than Grealish has for his recall for example.
looks like they had a short overlap at West Brom yes. Cutler was there from January 2018 to Nov 2018. I am hoping it's a case of they have idenfitied that Johnstone hasn't been playing higher, than can't play higher. I feel he is too slow for it and so naturally regresses deeper, but that's just...
Johnstone had one of the worst sets of metrics overall last season for keepers in top leagues in many categories and he seemed to reflect that when I saw him play, so not sure what Palace fans are defining as a top keeper.
My big concern is that included his starting position being very deep...
Yeah but in general it seems something a lot of our fans in particular hate. The idea that "now he has left Wolves I won't even accept he is a person anymore."
Personally I would accept greater turnover of players if it meant it made us more attractive. Come home and play for us and improve us...
I know many won't agree, but I personally have no issue with this. If done sustainably and around not just existing for this. As a strategy to make money to further invest and get good players on the rise. As long as it benefits Wolves.
I mean that's been pretty decent all things considered. Bit of a lethargic start but then smartly controlled the game, been pressing well in little targeted spells and working the ball well when on possession. Everyone looks motivated and prepped for their role.
Few things to work on but will...
