Today is how we should have approached the previous 7 games tbf. I reckon we'd have a few more points on the board.
It gives me a little hope we might get out of it. Obviously it all hinges on the next 3 games. We need at least 4 points. Any less than 1 from the next 2 and Gary has to go for me.
No you didn't. But then you shouldn't have to, just as I shouldn't have to state that any of my posts are just an opinion.
Unless a post is backed up with stats and citations, it's fairly obvious it's an opinion. As you were.
It certainly doesn't help. We all know though that RAN's attributes make for a very exciting attacking wingback who'll go on to much bigger things in the correct setup. We're not utilising him properly in my opinion in a back four.
He's a much better WB than a FB. The formation doesn't suit him...
No one's expecting much from City. I certainly don't see Bueno as a silver bullet, but then I don't think Forbs will be the wooden stake to the vampiric heart of Manchester City either.
I do however fancy our chances of shithousing them (about 20%) more than I do outscoring them (10%).
Okay, I'll rephrase it. He can defend and he can defend very well as demonstrated v Mo Salah.
He doesn't perform like that very often though, often not tracking back and offering no physical presence when defending set pieces (have you seen our defending from set pieces? lol).
It absolutely does, but you're burying your head in the sand if you think this squad has the players for a back four...
If we were to continue with a back four the best we can put out is;
Semedo Bueno Dawson Toti.
It's not good enough. Our best LB is Toti. I quite like Toti, but as cover...
RAN can't defend. Really he's a winger, maybe a WB but definitely not a FB.
Semedo, despite his attributes has in the past looked more comfortable as a FB, however he's not looked very comfortable this season...
Every good season he's had was preceded by a bad one, as such a good season is...
I love how you dismiss others opinions, then pass your own opinion off as fact lol.
What good partnership did we break up exactly? We shipped 65 PL goals last season! Max was central in more than one way to a mediocre (at best) defence (only 5 teams conceded more). How are those for FACTS...
This guy gets it;
"Based purely on ability, you're probably looking at a 20m player in this current day and age.
Add English tax and a an impeccable fitness record, you can stick a additional 10m to his price tag. The rest is overspend.
Wolves fans were doing somersaults when they got 40m for...
We're not missing Kilman. We have a Kilman shaped hole in the squad that could and indeed should have been filled.
We received an offer too good to turn down. An offer so good it should have been a cinch to replace him with just some of the proceeds...
We also received an offer too good to...
Not when you consider our form going back to the Cup exit v Coventry.
In the PL we've amassed 6 points in 17 games. That's likely to be 6 points over 19 games (half a season).
We've been shit since the attacker injury crisis of March. In that time GON has shown he doesn't have a clue when the...
Let me rephrase that. Had we drawn with Forest, Newcastle and Brentford I think we'd mostly be okay with that, having not lost more than two in a row and potentially a much healthier GA column.
You're right. Us fans would be far happier with just two more points on the board too. Three points at this stage given the tough start would be transformative and would probably mean we weren't haemorrhaging goals like we are.
It's the manner of the defeats though, the non existent defence is...
I would add I think given our current personnel, playing three at the back would benefit RAN who is a very good player but lacking as a full back in that he doesn't defend.
Toti looks better on the left of a three, Dawson would benefit having pace beside him no matter the formation and Bueno...
Not at all. Before the season started I wasn't arguing that we should play three at the back because I was happy with our CB options.
I argued we should play three at the back because I was extremely unhappy with our CB options...
We should have signed a CB after Kilman was sold. I had no...
We're not even a sieve this season. We're a fucking open drain.
Oh for the days of a sieve.
Also having the personnel to play a back three when required and have sufficient cover when necessary would have been nice.
Some of us were saying a back three was the best option before the season kicked off. What do we know though?
21 PL goals conceded already suggests we might know something. I too was sucked in (briefly) in to thinking a back four protected by a DM we didn't really need was the way forward...
I liked Mick, he restored the pride in the club, played quite a swashbuckling style in the Champ with his wingers fit, and got the most out of a very limited group of players in the PL.
I used to get in to the press box from time to time with a friend who's in the trade. Away at Palace all the...
