It really doesn't look good. Do I care? Yes. Am I resigned to the fact? Probably.

No pressure from your home fans either. As you said, anything and everything can be spun to suit an argument lol

It was noticeably different behavior from Derry. Given the non Wolves colours on his tracksuit, for a second I thought a City staff member was taking the piss with what looked like an exaggerated clap.

    33% isn't particularly low.

Twice in the last four seasons though. What happened four seasons ago seems a little more pertinent than ten seasons. In any case we all seem agreed it won't take 40 points or even 1ppg, which is nice because it doesn't look like we'll get it.

27 points keeps you up last season. 29 points in 20/21. My prediction is hardly outlandish given the terrible start by 4 clubs.

Time will tell I guess but I reckon the team who finish 17th won't need anywhere near 40 points which is often the target. I can see three teams getting 30 points or less though, one of them unfortunately may be Wolves.

Which would obviously see us relegated. Meanwhile three places above us (the right side of the dotted line) Ipswich are averaging 0.5ppg. as it stands every team beneath them (including us) would be relegated. My maths is not nonsense, it's factually correct. Not an opinion, just an...

It's the planet where the three teams immediately above are all averaging no more than 0.5ppg. extrapolated over a season means 20 points keeps you up, but not even I think three teams will be that bad, so 28-30 seems reasonable and maybe a little generous.

The point is concede three, barring a miracle you lose. Why is this so hard to comprehend? Since promotion with Nuno, only once have we scored more goals after 8 games! Yet we've infinitely fewer points than in any previous season since promotion. Trying to out-attack the opposition isn't...

So obvious solution is to play with fewer defenders and outscore the opposition. We're fucking 1970 Brazil all of a sudden. Fucking hell.

Shelving the ridiculous zonal marking and not playing attacking full backs in a back four would have probably helped though. Even if it was just 2 or 3 more points, things would look much better than the current situation. Perhaps then, we could be a little more adventurous v the "weaker" teams...

It's already looking like 28-30 points will keep you up this season. Having 2 more points on the board may well be invaluable.

Had we had a few 0 0's this season we could play with a bit more freedom that what we now can. You've planted your flag. You believe going four at the back was the right decision in our opening 7 fixtures. Results though, suggest otherwise... You carry on living in denial though.
  15. The Dude

    O'Neil aka GONe

I'm arguing we should have played that way versus them though. With hindsight I'd argue with some confidence that three CB's wouldn't have been any worse v Brentford either.
  16. The Dude

    O'Neil aka GONe

Playing 4 at the back is a tactic. It's one of the tactical issues. We've lost because defending has been atrocious, playing a back 4 with FB's caught horribly out of position and set pieces have been a nightmare. I'll respect your opinion, I just think you're wrong, like your laughing emoji...
  17. The Dude

    O'Neil aka GONe

I agree entirely. I think setting up to be hard to beat v Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa and Brentford wouldn't have resulted in fewer points or more goals conceded. Do you dispute that?
  18. The Dude

    O'Neil aka GONe

You've advocated a back four since before the season began, despite the horrific opening fixtures. Even I was sucked in to thinking André was some miracle cure to our defensive worries. He hasn't been. We didn't have the personnel to play four at the back when Mosquera was fit, we're even less...

But in the 8 games we've played so far, 6 are in the top 7! Saying that, a tighter defence would have probably fared better at Brentford, unless you think shipping 5 goals is acceptable?
  20. The Dude

    O'Neil aka GONe

I'd hate to have had a 0 0 ffs. Imagine not shipping 21 goals in the first 7 matches because we were hard to beat! I swear you think our squad is capable of having won every game so far. Four at the back, swashbuckling forward play, going toe to toe with the big boys! Fuck off, we're nowhere...
