No mention of Soucek smashing his forearm into Semedo, West Ham away? Couldn't believe the ref didn't want a second look at that*
*well, I mean, obviously I wasn't shocked
Again, I take no issue with the decision. But the decision-making process is hopelessly flawed. VAR should not be allowed to decide when it does and does not intervene. Leave it to the coaches on a request basis.
Rewatched it and Mac Alister jumps in two-footed.
Anyways, the red is whatever. I just don't understand when the VAR sees fit to intervene and when it doesn't. Damsgaard stamp? No issue. Soucek forearm? No issue. Semedo late tackle? RED
Coaches challenge seems the only fair way forward, and...
More convinced than ever that VAR should be used on a coaches-challenge-basis only. Don’t like what the ref decides? You’ve 2 opportunities to take it to a room full of dweebs and monitors. Don’t ask the ref to look at it again in super slo mo, either back him or override him.
That was they...
Anyone remember what happened to the West Ham and Fulham players after they elbowed Semedo in the face and butted Kilman? Didn’t they even get yellows?
No idea. Freeze-frame and eyeball it, benefit of the doubt to the attacking player?
These ultra-marginal decisions are a blight on the sport though. Staring through a microscope to see if a guy was an off by the width of a piece of A4?
In its current form VAR is dreadful for the game as a spectacle. But a huge part of that is the laws of the game. Offside wasn’t supposed to punish someone whose toe is 1mm in front an opponent. No idea what the solution to that is.
I’d let the onfield refs ref and use video to retroactively...
How many clubs can afford what we consider a fair price for these guys? Presume we'd want pretty high fees for Neto, RAN, Cunha and Gomes.
There's tons of clubs I'm sure the players would be happy to go to, but not many of them will be splashing 50m on players. Certainly not outside of...
He's obviously a very good coach so I think betting on him getting the old heave-ho before Christmas is a little premature. IMO. They don't have so many really desirable assets beyond Paqueta, Kudus and Bowen though. So unless the owners intend throwing money around there's plenty of opportunity...
I see Balague is already whistling JL’s flute all over Twitter.
Amazing how Lopetegui can get into a spat with FOSUN and Jeff, and stil come out smelling like a helmet
