I bought my first BTC back when they were worth around $8 each in 2011/12.
If I'd kept some of my early trades instead of spending it, and sold at the height of the bubble in 2021, I would now have several million pounds. But noooo, I had to buy drugs and have fun instead.
As well as all the (huge) benefits of HS2 - which as mentioned were never reducible "15 minutes quicker to London from Birmingham" - it's yet another cut that will make it more expensive in the long run than if they'd just kept going. We keep spinning up huge teams of people to work on stuff...
Yep when a dog turns 8 is when they're generally considered to have become "senior" by most insurers (and some vets might even recommend switching to senior dog food as well). I guess a very minor silver lining to my dog dying of cancer last year was that she was only 7 1/2, so our cover was...
We were with Animal Friends until my dog passed about a year ago. Had been with Petplan for a few years but switched when the premiums doubled one year for no discernable reason. Had no complaints with either of them in terms of how easy they were to speak with over the phone, processing claims...
Out of idle curiosity I went back and checked the thread from when Morgan put the club up for sale. First rumours which had some basis to them came out on June 29th, when Spanish journalists started reporting that Lopetegui had been approached to manage us on behalf of a Chinese consortium. UK...
Looks like a standard rumour mill spinning into action off the back of the possible Nunes transfer.
All it takes is a couple of ITKers to post some allegedly secondhand info - even better if it's a screenshot of a text, no way to fake that! - and it'll self-perpetuate from there for a few days...
Arsenal was the most on the beach performance I've ever seen (the first 25 minutes of before turning off because it was obvious what was happening). I like to think Brighton was too, because the alternative is too depressing.
I think the biggest compliment I can pay that performance is that it felt like the kind of game we used to get under Nuno. Only thing missing was the late goal.
I don't get the sense from the pre-season that Lopetegui knows his best XI yet (even allowing for his tendency to rotate a lot). Could easily see any of Cunha, Silva, or Sasa start up top, and any of Bueno, Toti, or Ait-Nouri at LB.
Hell of an away day for whoeever draws them (assuming their home... er, "stadium" seems too generous, gets a pass from UEFA).
EDIT: According to wikipedia it was renovated for European matches in 2019, so I guess so.
PTS accidentally published his draft article for if Scott signs on The Athletic. At least he's started anticipating that things might actually happen while he's on holiday.
New builds are still being fitted with gas boilers and stoves (and my personal pet peeve, washing machines in the kitchen). Insane that we're still at this stage in 2023.
I know I've spent a lot of time today arguing that there's no such quality as "electability" per se, but still - Badenoch really would have to pull a blinder to win a GE. Her whole brand to this point is so laser-focused to appeal to a narrow demographic, and I think she's a true believer as...
At the last election National (their version of the Tories) got nearly wiped out, down to 33 seats (out of 120 in the Parliament). They've got a form of PR down there, the election was held in the first year of the pandemic, Labour got more than 50% of the vote - they only survived because of...
Fuck, you're right - there've been so many of them that even the NS has lost track. Probably some more in that list.
Mark that seat down as a definite loss then, no incumbency factor to help it over the edge.
