    Revisiting old albums

Yeah, I had a Music Magpie clear out of CDs a couple of years ago. Boxes and boxes of absolute dreck that I must have convinced myself was good at the time. I think a lot of it was buying an album on the strength of one good song, that turned out to the only good song. I have probably spent more...

    Revisiting old albums

Moon Safari by Air. I remember listening to this a lot when it came out. Dear God, it's bland. Plinky plonky, emotionless and without any sort of edge whatsoever. A couple of nice tunes in there but nothing that would make me go back to it again. File with Dido in the Music for Dinner Parties...

    Coronavirus

Pretty much our experience. No-one has a 90-minute commute or a long drive home after having to work late, all the things we thought we missed like the camaraderie, face-to-face chat, easy collaboration are simple to manage online. It's difficult to measure the impact on productivity as work...

    Revisiting old albums

The Last In Line by Dio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=360xvnsduDg Teenage me played this record to death when it first came out. I haven't really listened to metal since the end of the '80s so this is a real throwback. Lyrically preposterous with a weird penchant for meteorological...

The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I made spinach and ricotta cannelloni last night (well, cream cheese as there seems to be a world ricotta shortage). First time I've ever had it, I think. Bloody delicious.

Your life would not be irreparably damaged if you gave series 2 a miss.

Series one is definitely worth sticking with.

    Revisiting old albums

Listen to an album you used to love but haven't listened to in ages. Do you still love it or has it not aged well? You can review in one word or write a 2,000 word essay - I'm not the boss of you. First up for me - The Lemonheads - Come On Feel The Lemonheads Got to say it still really does...

    Coronavirus

I gave my GP friend a big roll of plastic sheeting that I use in the garden to pass on to the local hospital this weekend. She said they're trying to source mattress bags to use as body bags, but if that fails they'll need to just wrap them up in plastic sheet. So that was cheery.

Finished Ozark last night. Awesome stuff. All set up nicely for shenanigans in series 4.

    Keir Starmer at it again..

Just catching up with this thread. I don't understand the calls for Starmer to be given some sort of official role in the corona crisis, or for there to be a national unity government. The Tories have a thumping majority - the first party in ages to have one - and Labour (of which Starmer was a...

    Coronavirus

Give it a rest, guys. People's views on Johnson are well known, my own included, and we can assume they won't have changed just because he's ill. There are plenty of other bones to pick with the government without getting into a who-cares-the-least battle.

    The Goggle Box Thread

Just feel a bit sorry for poor old Jonathan Banks, having to play an old enforcer much younger than the old enforcer he was originally hired to play.

Better Call Saul - still awesome, problematic ageing issues notwithstanding.

Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne. :( Weirdly, I was listening to Welcome Interstate Managers for the first time in ages yesterday. Love that album and Hackensack is one of my favourite melancholy songs.

Ah, the blitz. A cheerful few years of widespread looting, a massive black market and a golden age for organised crime. Happy times.

    Coronavirus

Yeah, all canoeing/kayaking events cancelled until May. Bit of a pisser as I've been training like buggery for six months to do the Devizes to Westminster 24hr race at Easter. I've got the body of a Greek god now and it's all going to go to waste while I sit on my sofa eating crisps for two months.
