    A jolly good read?

He doesn't make light of the horrors they inflicted, but does rip the piss out of their appalling literary efforts. Seems most dictators are aspiring Steve Bruces. I've read the Lenin and Stalin chapters and am now on Mussolini.

    A jolly good read?

One of my Christmas books is Daniel Kalder's Dictator Literature. He's read all the nonsense written by Stalin, Mao, Hitler et al so we don't have to, and then tears it apart. Pretty funny given its subject matter.

    The Film Thread

I might need to watch this again. I thought it was him at his self-indulgent worst! Some good bits and Brad Pitt was great but i thought overall it was really dull. I get it's a homage to his beloved Hollywood, but a better tribute to Hollywood would be to make a really good film.

    The Music Thread Strikes Back

Loving the Mannequin Pussy album. Pretty much ticks all my musical boxes: nice melodies bubbling under a blanket of fuzzy guitars , shouty female singer... Actually those are the only two musical boxes I need ticking. The shoutier songs remind me of Babes in Toyland which is only ever a good...

I saw Freddy at a second-spell Southend game - nothing much had changed.

How long has Corbyn got left?

Yeah, definitely required the little ad hom at the end. Always helps the debate. I agree that Brexit makes any judgement about people's motivations in this election a bit tricky. My point is that whatever the Lib Dems' Brexit stance was, I don't think they would have been seen as a party...

How long has Corbyn got left?

Did I? Probably. I did drink quite a lot this weekend.

How long has Corbyn got left?

Presumably if there was much appetite nationally for a centrist party, the Lib Dems would have done a lot better than they did. And I don't think their Remain stance played much of a part in their failure. I didn't hear anyone saying "I'd vote Lib Dem if only they were pro-Brexit". They just...

How long has Corbyn got left?

Unusually, I don't disagree with much of what you say on this thread, but just to take issue with the bit in bold. The total votes cast for parties that at least supported a second referendum was in excess of 50% so there still isn't a massive majority one way or the other in terms of Brexit...

    Brighton 2-2 Wolves

It was really just one or two guys where I was, not group chanting. They might even have been the ones who got done, but they looked younger than late 40s. If I hadn't already pissed off my wife by arguing with the nasty racist woman earlier in the day, I might have reported them myself.

    Brighton 2-2 Wolves

Yep, that sort of thing. I'm not suggesting people should be more creative with their homophobia but it was pretty pathetic. People were doing the limp wrist thing when I was at school in the 70s.

Good. There was a small bit of that where I was.

I thought Amazon's coverage was fine, too. (Though please pay more tax in the countries where you make your profit!) The main commentator's insistence on being "authentic" with his pronunciations got on my tits, though. Sort of bloke who has a city break in "Paree".

Wolves 2 -0 Wet Sham verdict thread

I've not seen that much of us this year, and I thought we were excellent. Well organised, calm, intelligent, energetic, hard-working and above all, creative. There's a real vervein the way we play that is great to watch. I thought Jota was pretty good, albeit with not much coming off for him...

The All New Adverts that Grind my Gears

All these fucking adverts where they repurpose songs with new lyrics to fit their shitty products. Even if I hate the original song it pisses me off.

    The Music Thread Strikes Back

Back to fantasy record valuations courtesy of Discogs... MC5 Kick Out the Jams censored version goes for £120. The Beatles ones are good. The MiL obviously rushed out and bought them on the day of release as they're all first pressing monos. All original inserts and in good nick. Mostly over...
