Years since I lived in Wolverhampton and the wrong side of town for me now (on a match day) but wasn’t ‘that’ Dixons a paint store not the Dixons that was synonymous with Currys?
Shocking umpiring (cheating I would call it) denying Pakistan a run out at the start of our second innings. One of those really easy decisions that in club cricket makes you spend the rest of the game chuntering 'cheat' under your breath.
He played for Lancs for years, epitome of a decent county pro and got some England caps while Bumble was the team manager and Lancs team mate Atherton was I think still captain. Never played a test and has been an umpire since retiring.
Similar umpiring and playing career - never quite at the...
I'm the opposite.
I loved the fall* and rise of the 80's because it all happened so quickly and there was a real connection with the team, players [many of which as you say were from local football] and fan camaraderie.
* admittedly the fall only became lovable/bearable because the rise back...
Clearly Rovert47 has access to other channels as he states he 'was always happy watching the T20'. But his wife or son never watched those, so while terrestrial TV will have been an argument for some, it was something else here.

2023 Lemina I agree, 2024 Lemina struggled to warrant a place in the team. We don’t want a Max type scenario where the captain has to play regardless so I think Cunha could mature with it and cement a long term stay here like Neves did.
I remember Gallagher as being very much a Hughes, Dawson, Bennett, Curle type signing. Hoping that their leadership skills had outlasted and compensated for their declining physical attributes.
Unfortunately, as I remember, Gallagher was a busted flush.
