I more so meant we play him a unique way that gets the best out of him that another team perhaps wouldn’t, similar to Nuno did with Doc. Obviously he is a far superior player to his Irish counterpart.
Think he has a bit of the Nuno-Doherty’s about him. Obviously he has a much higher ceiling but we do play him in quite a unique position. He wouldn’t do as well in a back four currently I don’t think.
I think that has more to do with how Neves and Moutinho were told to play it, but I totally agree.
JL had Lemina and he wasn’t half as dynamic as he is now.
The tactical discipline shouldn’t be understated either that he has instilled. You see it in the front three and midfield two game by game - the rotation between the five of them makes it difficult for any team to keep up.
Yeah, I don’t think - of the past 5-6 games - anyone can bemoan the tactics too much. Ipswich and before that sure, they were largely dreadful.
He sets the team up well, we play some decent stuff, and we flood the box when we attack now. As EP says, we always saw 3-4-3 as an attacking blunt but...
We’re in a good position with 30 for and 31 against compared to the teams below us. Barring an absolute disaster I think we’ll be absolutely fine.
We only scored 31 goals all of 22/23 btw.
I think Toti has done fine with a lot of it. Worst I’ve probably seen it was against Brentford where he was clearly targeted and struggled against Lewis-Potter, but more often than not it doesn’t leave us too weak. And Lewis-Potter is a good player.
Doyle and Dawson aside I’m not sure how the rest of them have kept up the level of pressing and aggression in the past three games. They didn’t look the slightest bit tired today.
Crazy when you consider all GON has really done is give RAN a bit of discipline with the fancy flicks, and utilised him as more of an attacking threat. It does leave Toti exposed sometimes, but not TOO often that it’s an issue.
I’ll give him Hwang, none of us could have predicted this would...
Imagine if we had those seven extra points?
Top notch today, some great finishes (the offsides too) and attacking patterns. No silly mistakes either. Very, very good. Well done to Gary and the team.
