One of those where you review it in retrospect and it's not a good look. He’s not a nice guy, he’s a shit manager who blamed the players for his own deficiencies.
On this kind of decision I think you have to go all in. Not suggesting Johnstone was any good, he wasn't, but we saw under Jackett when he flip flopped with Martinez and Ikeme you just end up with a keeper who is a bag of nerves. That's what we had until Vitor came in and said Sa is the man.He essentially told our first choice keeper to do one then had to hurredly backtrack on that one.
I think many were patient and gave him the benefit of doubt because he mismanaged the players so badly they started to believe our squad was so poor a relegation battle was inevitable. From Coventry onwards his complete inability to organise a defence was evident. From Brentford away it was clear he hadn’t a clue full stop to anyone taking an objective look. One of those where you review it in retrospect and it's not a good look.
Lage was a fucking arsehole, that was obvious. Dave Jones was a lazy prick who wanted to play golf more than develop players, that was obvious. McGhee's mouth wrote cheques that his actual ability couldn't cash, that was obvious.
With Gary O'Neil it was a bit more subtle but there was a huge trend when you look back of him patting himself on the back when it went well and just blaming the players when it didn't. He couldn't use André, he didn't even try to use Kalajdzic.
He essentially told our first choice keeper to do one then had to hurredly backtrack on that one.
These aren't good traits.
Yoi picked him out very early as a chancer. Fair play.Brentford away was absolutely the one. I mean I already couldn’t stand him but I don’t think he had many if any supporters after that one.
(Apart from wolftone)
Brentford was my final tipping point but keeping him after Everton (easily in the five worst I have ever seen, and I've been watching us for 37 years) is next level insaneBrentford away was absolutely the one. A wet one at that...Tbf he doesn't look like he could punch a hole in a paper bag
GO allowed the breakdown to start but Jeff/Hobbs ensured it went to being out of control when they made GO the caretaker manager.I've never seen such a complete lack of discipline from a Wolves team as happened in O'Neil's final couple of months. It was chaos on every level.
I'm not even sure he was better than Zenga.I've never seen such a complete lack of discipline from a Wolves team as happened in O'Neil's final couple of months. It was chaos on every level.
I prefer him to Lage, Zenga and Saunders but I don't know beyond that.
Put some praise on Glenn Hoddle's unbeaten record.I'm not even sure he was better than Zenga.
Yes, that bad.
GON or Hoddle?
2 more great points and you can't use this line of bantz again..That's a great point (write the date down lad, it's entry 3 in the last 20 years)..
I think I can wait until 2045 to be honest. I'm a patient man.2 more great points and you can't use this line of bantz again..
The Dawson one was odd at the time...but it clear that Vitor didn't see him as the dominant centre back he wanted and boy, did we recruit the right player. That alone was a major turning point let alone bombing Lemina out, seeing through the shite that is Hwang, playing only those who have the desire to wear the shirt and the overall tactical plan. Embracing the fans in such a humble way was a masterclass in getting everyone on board.I think the Dawson one was just football related, not him being a dick. But again a big decision.
