I don’t think we were bad at any point ?
Villa did nothing first half, neither did we. Was baffled by the negativity again. We have no threat and when you basically don’t pass to the guy wide open (yes he was awful first half) you make everyone else’s job harder, and those other players aren’t...
Yeah he was dreadful on the ball, and now they don’t pass to him. He’s given nothing up the other way though.
Playing Rodrigo would be like playing Helder Costa there. Complete liability and offer fuck all the other way to counter it, and Helder Costa was better than Rodrigo Gomes.
Some are decent on the ball. Some are terrible.
We played decent first half against palace and moved the ball well.
Maybe blind faith. But I’m not into the slating the team before a balls being kicked every week. I’ll try and understand the reasoning and analyse it after.
I’m not trying to be correct here, I think it’s obvious you can’t hoof up to Adam Armstrong. But no one goes out with that intention, that is just what happens if the opposition press well and you aren’t good enough on the ball to get out of it.
But our issue this season hasn’t necessarily...
I’m not saying we’ve done it before, but that’s how we need to try an play. Are we good enough to execute and not just end up hoofing it I don’t know. I’d have felt confident with Krejci playing as the back 3 are all capable with the ball with him in it as are the two Brazilians.
Well the plan has to be playing through the thirds and getting into Mane and JRB feet. It can work, whether it does we will see. Those four are our better players and they are missing their first choice 3 there.
It’s quite simple IMO. Is playing Gomes going to make it more likely you to concede - yes. Is it going to make us more likely to score - probably not.
Jackson is shit on the ball; Gomes isn’t as bad but isn’t good at anything either.
