lonewolf

Having been given an old 2nd hand Gold/black football shirt by my mother in 1973 when I was aged 9 I found it was a good time to support the Wolves. My 1st visit to see the Wolves was a 1-0 friendly defeat at Brighton in 1977 and I was also at Brighton in the 78/79 season to see the Wolves beat Brighton 3-2 in the F.A. CUP. My 1st game at Molineux was a 2-1 win against Blackburn 1982/83. I had 2 seasons following the Wolves. I used to travel up on a Friday night for some of the Saturday home games and joined the London Wolves for some cheap travel on away games. I had 2 seasons where I met some good fans who put me up on a Friday night and would see I was ok when travelling back to Euston on the train after home games. I also had the experience of being sworn, spat and even mugged by Wolves fans during the 1983/84 season.During the mid 80's I mainly went to the away league games down south/London or the odd league/cup game at Molineux. Married in the 90's followed by the arrival of 2 children meant I became more of an armchair fan. I then drifted to Non League football and started to watch my local team Lewes FC but would/will always at least once a season travel to see the Wolves. I've seen the Good Bad and Ugly side of being a Wolves fan But I will be forever grateful to my Mum for giving me that Gold/Black football top.
