Mate, it was thirty years ago my memory span is 30 minutes at best, I remember the rates dropping and trying to get out of the fixed rate but they wanted 3 months mortgage as a penalty, I was on about £170ish a week, wasn't happening

That was our thinking, as I was a lorry driver at the time and earning less than £200 a week, it made sense, the fact the interest rate plummeted within twelve months of us taking it out was purely the story of my life :)

Ours was £29k in 1989 at 11.75% ,and we fixed that rate for three years ! I'm always available for sound financial advice, if anyone needs it :)

New a family that emigrated there and came back within a year, one of the reasons was boredom, my ears pricked up at that point :-)
