The Football News Thread 2023/24

She is picking a random number out to highlight the moment. I doubt she is up on Stadium capacity but probably knows OT holds over 70k these days, so gone with that.

She should know though that football uber geeks will question her knowledge "Sounds horrible Mrs B but it was no more than 40000 singing it so that removes some of the edge to the chant"
I do remember Karen Brady getting it sung in her direction everytime Paul Peschisolido played at Molinuex.

Talk of a 10 month ban for Tonali

He has copped a plea in Italy and the talk is the ban will kick in at the final whistle against Dortmund.

Are they his meds lined up in front of him?

The cynic in me says that works perfectly for the PL, get to look tough while the commission throws it out.

Even if applied, I could see Everton getting 9 more points than Burnley over the rest of the season

Everton who have lost to everyone at the bottom bar Sheffield United where they were very fortunate to draw and Bournemouth who really are dreadful?

Oh and have a horrendous run up to Christmas where every point garnered would actually be a surprise?

I’m less than convinced. A 12 point deduction and their situation would be almost hopeless to be honest.

Not sure.

Burnley are incredibly naive and looked awful at times but equally playing City, Spurs, Utd, Newcastle, Villa and Chelsea in their opening games is mitigation.

They've drawn their points against other teams in the bottom six (Forest and Luton) which Everton have failed to do despite a more favourable start.

Even if you take the view that 30 points might keep you up this year, that leaves Everton needing to earn 42/43 minimum. They're on 7 from 9, so 35/36 required from 29 games. Would be very much at odds with their form under Dyche as a whole.

Don’t they have the right to appeal do would put any deductions on hold?

If they do get deducted points this season feels a lot like the 09/10 season where Pompey had 9 point’s docked, Burnley and Hull were abysmal so pretty much meant you were staying up as long as you weren’t absolutely rank.

We were absolutely rank and stayed up :D

Scored 13 at home all season, 2 of them on the final day in a dead rubber vs Sunderland.

Second half of the season was Mancienne and Henry parked two yards in front of the centre halves and Kev Foley playing wide right in an alleged front three.

Bet they wish their lawyers were as good as City's - numerous counts of FFP breach and just got a slap on the wrist.

They're completely different tbf. City spent money that their owners invested via other business, naughty and against the rules.

Everton have lost a quarter of a billion pounds of money that they never had and can't get, which is ultimately a financial hit to many football organisations and could conceivably result in Everton going into administration - and it's *that* which was the main point of the Premier League P&S rules
