I'm loving this numberplate thread BTW.
Think area code letters changed a few years ago didn't they? (A few years ago could mean up to 25). For example FD used mean registered in Dudley. Now according to Keefs table it's Nottingham.

Over here I think most plates are 6 figures. Usually three letters and three numbers but you can have more or less, and pretty much anything you want as long as no other vehicle in the state has the same. Registration charge for a less than regular plate is more expensive though.(Bul 306 appears to be available in QLD)

Alfas with passenger side plates look good with private plates. My plate looked much better on my 156s than it does on my Nissan Juke!

I’m often surprised by this forum, thought the piss would be taken over the number plate chart I put up, instead the threads turned into a load of people sitting in a village pub beer garden in the sun chatting about number plates and old tv memories type thing.
Sign of a good forum I suppose that threads are allowed to go off track occasionally without an admin going Oi get back on track

It gave me a break from cleaning the barbecue which in itself is an ‘annoy - ‘People that put barbecues away without cleaning them first.

Talking about cars….
The thing that has annoyed me for years (and bear with me because I know it’s silly) is when you get classic older cars in TV and Film productions and they never have a splash of dirt or mud on them. They are always immaculate. It totally ruins the immersion of the movie or TV production for me.

Example last night in Steeltown Murders (which is pretty good viewing). Lovely 70’s car driving through fields and rainy, dirty South Wales mining towns. Guess what? They look like they’ve just been valeted.

See also Poirot etc and other programmes set between 1930 and 1980. Once you see it, you will never not be able to notice it and point it out to someone.

I have now ruined your TV viewing for life.

That’s a good point and it irritates me too. Cars from that era rotted in no time and many a street would’ve had cars with different coloured wings or doors. I had a Mk3 Cortina in bright blue with red wings once. £125 and a thing of beauty. Gear lever came off on my hand once and drove it for about 6 months with mole grips clamped to the little stub. Them were the days!

We’re all used to getting ripped off at events but this one seems like taking the piss.

Headed up to the Derby, in a pub, OUTSIDE the course, a shitty Beefeater. Beer £7 pint in a plastic beaker. Prices up £2 a pint for the duration of the festival.

Would barely be worth it for a fiver but 7. A disgrace.

Sadly, it’s becoming a Catch-22 situation - with staff and other costs spiralling, pubs are having to raise beer prices, yet consumers can avoid some of these rises by drinking more at home.

But the issue was with the temporary increase in price. Ok they would’ve had to employ a couple more staff and maybe a security guy but that goes with the territory on busier periods. Boozers don’t charge more for a pint at 10.30 on a rammed Saturday night than they would at 1.15 on a Tuesday afternoon to some bloke with his dog.

That place was making a fair few quid from temporary car parking in the garden too. Don’t have a problem with that but £2 on a pint in a plastic beaker just because you can get away with it for a few days is not on. Perhaps because it’s a Beefeater there’s not such a local community to upset, but as far as I can see it’s just greed and they can get fucked.

My annoyance is that since 1999 my local pubs started charging an admission fee on NYE.
